How NERYUNE estimates your daily goal

This page explains in plain words how NERYUNE calculates your goal. The short version: an estimated range built from a few transparent parts, never a medical prescription.

A range, not a prescription

NERYUNE always shows an estimated range (about ±10% around the target) and a visible breakdown of where the number comes from. The target is a tracking anchor for the day, not a requirement. Every part below appears as its own labeled line in the app; nothing is adjusted silently.

Base: your body weight

The starting point is based on your body weight, with an optional refinement if you choose to declare your sex. The direction of that refinement follows the adequate-intake values published by EFSA in 2010 for adults.

Honest limitation: the weight-based estimate is a transparent wellness heuristic anchored to that direction. No authority publishes per-kilogram, sex-specific requirements, and declaring sex is always optional. Height is deliberately not used: weight already covers body size.

Activity: profile or real workouts, never both

Without workout data, your lifestyle profile adds a fixed estimate at one of three levels. On days with recorded workouts (for example, from Health Connect), workouts add fluid in proportion to their duration, within a sensible cap, and they replace the profile estimate entirely rather than stacking with it. The two are never added together, so activity is never counted twice.

Environment (optional)

If weather data is available, hot or humid days moderately raise the goal, within a cap of their own. Without weather data this part is simply zero and the goal stays fully valid.

Age (optional)

If you choose to declare your age, a small, visible addition appears later in life, because thirst perception weakens with age. Research consistently supports the direction of this nudge; the amount itself is a product heuristic, not an evidence-derived dose, and the app presents it exactly that way.

Evenings with alcohol (optional, 21+)

Users who confirm they are 21 or older can enable an optional setting and mark an evening when they drink alcohol. The next day's breakdown then shows a visible, weight-scaled addition for restoring your normal hydration level. It applies to the next day only, at most once per day; it is simply extra fluid, nothing more.

Safety bounds

Whatever the inputs, the final goal is always kept inside a sensible safe range. If the sum is trimmed by that range, the adjustment appears as its own visible line; nothing is trimmed silently.

Your manual goal always wins

You can set your own daily goal at any time. A manual goal replaces every computed part above (within the same safety bounds) and is shown as exactly the number you chose.

Coffee and caffeine

Coffee counts toward your fluid intake at a reduced factor. NERYUNE does not claim that caffeine dehydrates you; caffeine tracking is a separate feature and never changes your goal.

The important part

NERYUNE provides an estimated hydration target for general wellness. Individual needs may vary. This is not medical advice. If you have a condition that affects fluid intake, consult a medical professional.
